Thirty years…

It has been 30 years since the accordionist, who has received more awards than any other accordionist in the world, began his career as a solo artist after working with many French singers such as Claude Nougaro, Barbara, Juliette Greco, Georges Moustaki, Serge Reggiani, Charles Aznavour and Allain Leprest.

It has been 30 years since his first album, Spleen, was released with his quartet, New Musette.

For 30 years, Richard Galliano has been promoting accordion music and restoring the instrument’s prestige of bygone days.

For 30 years, he has been playing all musical genres with the same joie de vivre, flirting with salsa courting tango, and staying true to his identity and his Franco-Italian roots.

It has only been 5 years, however, since Richard Galliano began playing classical music, but how delightful! The best-selling Bach Project with Deutsche Grammophon was followed by a tribute to Nino Rota and Vivaldi’s Four Seasonsall with the prestigious German classical music label.

In 2014, Galliano received a Victoire de la Musique Classique award for Composer of the Year.

Richard Galliano has chosen to celebrate his 30-year career alongside his talented friends and musicians. The repertoire for this quartet will be exclusively dedicated to Richard Galliano’s best compositions from the last 30 years.

On Thursday 26 February 2015, the accordionist will perform during a special anniversary concert at the Opéra Garnier Monte-Carlo with drummer André Ceccarelli, double bass player Yaron Stavi and guitarist Sylvain Luc, whose latest duo album with Richard Galliano, La vie en Rose, which pays tribute to Edith Piaf and Gus Viseur, will be released on 26 January 2015.
